A country house designed in the 19th century for the 11th Lord Blantyre, Mar Hall is surrounded by a 240 acre woodland estate in the Mar area which was once one of the seven kingdoms of ancient Scotland. There are 53 rooms featuring contemporary but nonetheless ornate design – Grand Suites enjoy four-poster beds, a living room and multiple fireplaces.
There are several food and drink options at Mar Hall: at the fine dining end of the spectrum is the Cristal Restaurant serving a seasonal menu of local Scottish produce; Il Posto Ristorante in the grounds of the hotel serves Italian cuisine; against a grand backdrop of Louis XIV furniture, light meals and afternoon tea are served in the Grand Hall; and drinks are also served in the Spike Bar.
