Spa & Leisure
Housed in the Art Deco-inspired Orangery at Bovey Castle, the spa is one of those places that fuses a synergy with the natural surroundings with luxury and time tested grandeur. The resort boasts a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, gym and a beautiful indoor swimming pool that is perched above the River Bovey, with views over the grounds. There is also a sun terrace which opens during the summer months.
Meanwhile, the spa uses product house ESPA in their treatments. There are bespoke spa experiences available that echo the tranquility and therapeutic flow of the nearby River Dart.
Hotel & Accommodation
The hotel itself dates back to the turn of the 20th century and is surrounded by 275 acres of Dartmoor National Park, but as of 2015 has had a fresh refurbishment. There are 59 rooms and suites divided between the extended former manor house and mews as well as 22 self-catering, three-storey granite lodges for larger groups and families. Interiors in the main house are opulent in a style befitting the English gentry, while the newly built lodges are more contemporary – stone floors, a neutral palette and lots of natural light.
There are two main options when it comes to dining at Bovey Castle – the 3 AA star Great Western restaurant is fine dining with views of the grounds and locally sourced dishes; while Smith’s Brasserie is open throughout the day for classic British informal dining, including light snacks and a children’s menu. Meanwhile the Oak Bar is ideal for cocktails.
